Volunteer at Stamford Hospital

Stamford Hospital has a community outreach program designed to increase and enhance volunteer involvement at Stamford Hospital, Tully Health Center and our other affiliates. We want to provide a broad selection of volunteer opportunities that can fit in with today's busy, modern lifestyles while also maintaining a primary focus on the needs of our patients.

We make it easy for volunteers to get started quickly. All that's required is filling out a simple application form - and making a commitment to help our patients benefit from their stay at Stamford Hospital. Our commitment is to ensure that each volunteer is well-matched and well-recognized, regardless of whether they volunteer once a week or once a year.

Main Information Desk

If you would enjoy an opportunity to put your charm and common sense to use in a bustling environment, a volunteer position at our Main Desk may be just the thing for you. Phone callers request information, visitors ask for directions to a loved one's room, and delivery people bring flowers. Often, our front desk volunteers are the first people visitors or callers encounter at Stamford Hospital. This position is vitally important in establishing Stamford Hospital as being sensitive to the needs of patients and families, and also in being able to provide information in an efficient, capable manner. Bilingual skills are a plus, but are not required.

 

Hospital Ambassadors
 
It's human nature.  Whenever we are in unfamiliar or new surroundings we become more anxious.  That can be especially true when in a hospital environment.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if your hospital had a group of people dedicated to helping you find your way, or better yet, escort you directly to your destination?   Coming to a hospital can be a fearful experience for many, but we can help calm our patients and visitors, and you can help!

Tender Touch for Hospital Patients

Just about everyone enjoys and benefits from receiving a tender hand massage, but this is especially true for hospital patients. We've developed our Tender Touch hand-massage program as a complimentary service for selected patients. We welcome volunteers interested in providing these pampering hand massages. All necessary training will be provided. If you are interested in taking part in this vital program, please call our Tender Touch coordinator at 203-276-7521.
