The Department of Nephrology at Stamford Hospital treats kidney disease. Patients at Stamford Hospital who require the services of this department are offered a full range of diagnostic tests for kidney disease, including kidney biopsy, nuclear magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and the most up-to-date kidney replacement therapies available. These services are offered on both an in- and outpatient basis.
There are five full-time board-certified nephrologists on staff in the department. Services include hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis (CAPD and CCPD), continuous venovenous hemofiltration, which is offered in the critical care unit, plasmapheresis and hemoperfusion. Home hemodialysis is offered through the outpatient dialysis unit.
